As you can see on our maps page, the coop is well located, surrounded by plenty of green space, but also just minutes away from downtown and excellent public transportation.

Local Businesses and Services

We are close to elementary schools and the University of Ottawa, as well as the Strathcona Heights Community Room, Sandy Hill Community Centre, and Sandy Hill Community Health Centre.

Local businesses include take-out food, a convenience store, hairstylist and restaurant.

We are not far from both the Sunnyside and Rideau Street branches of the Ottawa Public Library.

Transportation:

Two bus routes (#16, #316) that pass right in front of our building. Both of these buses arrive at the Rideau Centre within minutes. The #16 provides a quick route to the Ottawa General Hospital and the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO).

We are a 5 minute walk away from the Lees Transitway station. The Transitway is Ottawa's main rapid transit artery. More details on public transportation in Ottawa can be found on www.octranspo.com

Recreation:

We are very close to Strathcona Park (right on the Rideau River), a soccer field, Sandy Hill Arena, and the famous Rideau Canal (the world's longest naturally frozen ice rink). We are right beside one of the NCC's recreational paths, so you can bike, jog, walk, roller-blade, or even cross-country ski all over the city. Maps and guides to these paths are available here.

Voisins welcomes gardeners to help with our flower and herb gardens, and we are just a minute's walk away from the Strathcona Heights Community Garden, where you can rent a plot for growing vegetables and flowers.
