About the Award

The Cooperative Association of Eastern Ontario (CHASEO) wanted to bring the co-operative spirit to youth in our housing co-ops, and started this award in 2007 to do just that. The Youthworks - Send a Co-op Teen to Camp Award gives a co-op kid a chance to learn leadership skills, the principles of the co-operative movement, and eat smores with a bunch of other like-minded teens in the middle of the woods! The winner is nominated by their co-op and chosen by a draw held at the CHASEO AGM. Camps are held in June and July every year. First-time participants must be 14 at the time of the camp.
