About John and Susan McLean

John and Susan McLean lived at Sawmill Creek Housing Co-op for several years and were very involved with participating in CHASEO’s endeavours. They were loyal, dedicated and long time volunteers in our housing co-op sector. While John McLean has passed away and Susan no longer lives in the co-op, this award carries on to honour their commitment and the commitment of so many others in the development of strong and healthy housing co-ops in Ottawa.

About this Award

Each year, the Co-operative Housing Association of Eastern Ontario (CHASEO) honours an individual who, like John and Susan, has demonstrated outstanding service to the local co-op housing sector. Nominees can be involved in their co-op or the broader co-op housing movement. They may be directors on the board, committee members, or they may serve the co-op housing movement in less formal ways by doing something special for their co-op or community.

2011 Recipient – Nathalie Cote-Chartrand

Nathalie is greatly involved in the co-op sector as a CHASEO Educator, valued employee at CHAOS and also a member and delegate at Coopérative d’habitation La Fontaine Inc. Nathalie decided to be an external Board Member of Coopérative d’habitation Jeanneville when it was in a state of great difficulty. During the past two years, Nathalie spent a lot of her free time, shared her knowledge, and used her experience during and after Board Meetings to help this co-op. Her determination, direction, and dedication permitted Coopérative d’habitation Jeanneville to overcome many challenges and to get back on a positive track.

The members of Coopérative d’habitation Jeanneville wish to thank Nathalie for her great generosity and dedication.
